We want you to have the best possible experience at university, and we believe that starts with where you live. We prioritise fairness, transparency, and good-quality housing to ensure you can focus on the important things like friends, deadlines, and making the most of your time at university!

Transparent practices

We will always be upfront with information about what your commitments to us are. Before even receiving a contract, you can view a list of your main commitments and areas to be aware of on our Ethical Lettings page. A good relationship is built on honesty and trust, and your relationship with your lettings agency is no different!

Sustainable living

We’re proud to say that all our houses use 100% green energy providers. Not only do you receive all bills included, but you can rest assured knowing that the energy you use is sourced from onshore and offshore wind farms. We also have recycling bins at every Joint Living house; we’re all doing our small part for the environment!

Support Services

We’re here for you! You have multiple choices for how to contact us depending on the issue you’re facing. For maintenance and rent issues, always contact us through the Arthur app. The app provides you with 24/7 convenient access to relevant documents and easy issue reporting. You can also email us for any concerns or complaints, or WhatsApp us for support and guidance, we’re very responsive no matter what communication method you use.

As a Joint Living tenant, you’ll also be eligible for a membership to Sound Asleep Club for audio meditations & bedtime rituals and we’ll also provide you with a wellbeing and safeguarding mentor. Student life can be stressful, so it’s important to set some time aside to relax and look after your mental well-being.

Community Events

Nothing brings people together like free pizza! We run a competition on the last Friday of every month to give away a pizza to a lucky household. We also have welcome events to help you meet your new housemates and local Joint Living community and run a yearly social event too, so there are plenty of opportunities to socialise and mingle.

Quality Accommodations

We carefully select and curate our houses based on location to universities and amenities in the city before fully furnishing them with modern stylish fittings so you can quickly settle into your new home. For the pièce de résistance, each house features large, spacious communal areas with artwork and murals by local artists, making it a perfect place to spend time with your flatmates or have your mates round!

Fair Treatment

We want to make our lettings as fair and accessible as possible, so we have both advance rent payments and guarantor schemes available. We outline the differences here, but in short: a guarantor is someone who agrees to cover your rent if you can’t for any reason and will have to be willing to make this commitment, whereas advance rent payments can allow you to secure accommodation without need for a guarantor, but will require you to pay several months of rent upfront. There’s no singular better option, which is why we offer the option to do either.

We also know that circumstances change, and things might come up before term starts or you may choose to leave university. We have no drop-out charges if you change your mind prior to moving in, and in the event you need to move out due to no longer being a student, we will do our best to help you. It is important to note that if you drop out of university, you will still be liable for rent and costs until you find a replacement tenant and that finding a replacement can be challenging, but we will post your room on our website's “Available Now” page and on Housing Hands Student Finder page for free, so you won’t be alone in your search.
