International Student Guide

If you are joining us from overseas, we’ve got you covered in our guide about what to consider below.

Where possible, try to arrange your arrival into the UK within our opening hours

Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm

If you arrive in the UK outside of our opening hours you will need to find yourself accommodation until you can collect your key from our office.

On the day your tenancy starts, you will be greeted by a member of our Joint Living team at the property, at a specific time to hand you over your key and show you important property information for the house. This will be your first opportunity to meet everyone you will be living with and ask us any questions you may have

You must ensure you have completed all necessary payments and signed any documentation prior to key collection, you will not be able to move in if you have not completed this.

If you are unable to make your move in day, you will need to collect your room key from our office

Location – Stanmer House Cafe, Stanmer, Brighton

BN1 9QA

We must know in advance what time you will be arriving, so we can make sure your key and all relevant documentation is ready

When you collect your key you will need to show a form of photo ID, for example a passport, if you are unable to provide ID we can not hand over your key.

Your room will be fully furnished, however you will need to supply your own bedding / pots / pans and cutlery.

You can purchase these prior to your arrival into the UK from Uni Kit Out and have them delivered to the property the day you move in. Use code: BSH10 for 10% off your purchases.

Unikitout.com

You can also purchase these from a local supermarket

We recommend you download in advance, the local bus timetable app and order a bus pass

https://www.buses.co.uk/app

As soon as you can we advise you open a UK student bank account as this will allow you to pay your rent hassle free

(Your uni can help you with this )

Contact your local council to make sure you are exempt from paying council tax – failure to do this may result in a fine

Register at a local doctors, as soon as you can

Set up your Arthur app (a link will be sent to you) this will allow you to keep track of your rental payments / important information and report any maintenance issues

In October we host our yearly student event, to allow all our tenants the opportunity to get to know people, this year we will be hosting this event on Tuesday 10th October – Time, Location & Theme will be sent to you via email

We hope you have the best time at Uni. If we can do anything to help or support you, please feel free to reach out to us at hello@jointliving.co.uk
